PANEVĖŽYS INDUSTRIAL PARK
Since 2005 Panevėžys City Municipality works with the establishment of Panevėžys Industrial Park. During the preparatory stage the Municipality has purchased the land from the private owners, prepared the Master Plan of the land plot and technical projects of the infrastructure.
It should be noted that the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania has approved the establishment of the Industrial Park in Panevėžys as the project of national importance.
Panevėžys City Municipality is not able to implement the project only by its own (borrowed) financial allocations. As a result of that on December 31, 2008 the project application for the EU support was supplied in accordance to the Priority of Economical Development Actions INCREASE OF BUSINESS PRODUCTIVITY AND IMPROVEMENT OF BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT. The task is to adopt public territories for the investments. On September 3, 2009, after the evaluation of preparatory works, the Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Lithuania allocated the support of 17,5 mln. Litas. It will be used for the construction of infrastructure of Industrial Park (local roads, water supply and sewage, electricity networks, etc.).
The construction works of infrastructure in the territory of Industrial Park has been started on October 19, 2009. In a year a high quality Industrial Park is planned to be proposed for the investors. The aim of the project is to create the infrastructure of Panevėžys Industrial Park for the potential investors. The vision of Panevėžys Industrial Park is to provide a critical movement in development of industry, business and science of Panevėžys Region. High quality direct foreign and local investments will be attracted, regional economical development will be promoted, and new labour places for the people of Panevėžys will be created. Panevėžys Industrial Park could be open to local investors, they could use all the possibilities provided though most attention would be given to the attraction of foreign investments. It is not only the capital but also ,,know-how”, easier access to new markets, integration of local economy to international networks and clusters. Our aspirations are to create high value added and to ensure a long-term economic growth.
After the implementation of the project Panevėžys City Municipality will have the possibility to propose a territory for green field investments. By the help of Master Plan 9 land plots for industrial and storage objects are formed. The total area of them is 35 ha. The size of land plots can be corrected in accordance to the needs of the investors.
