The Ideas of Sustainable Cities have been discussed

The meeting was based on a study conducted in Paris. Current trends in urban planning have been discussed. The event was moderated by Claus Kollinger. According to him, more and more people in the world promote a modern lifestyle, one of the most important criteria of which is convenience, speed and quick communication, when the main points of the city can be reached within 15 minutes by bike or on foot.
The example of Vienna (Austria), which implemented a cooling street project due to climate changes and extreme heat in summer was also presented. In the central part of the city, shower structures were installed to allow residents who wanted to refresh themselves on a hot summer day. The meeting also discussed the need to encourage citizens to use less cars, more means of public transport, bicycles, etc., adapted to sustainable mobility.
The next meeting of the project partners is scheduled for the beginning of February. Representatives of Bielefeld (Germany), Valga (Estonia), Serres (Greece), Turku (Finland), Saint-Germain-sur-Mer (France), Arad (Romania), Badalona, Gija de Isora (Spain) and Panevėžys are participating in this project.
EU URBACT-funded project "Space4People" aims to increase the attractiveness of public spaces by focusing on three main aspects: pedestrians and their spaces, parking problems, intermodal and public transport.
The URBACT program supports the sustainable integrated development of European cities, provides funding for networking, exchanges of experience, plays a key role in strengthening urban links, exchanging good practice and finding innovative solutions.
