Panevėžys City Municipality has launched the implementation of the international project “Youth Re:Build: Together Designing an Inclusive Future”, funded by the European Union under the “Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values” (CERV) programme. The project aims to strengthen youth involvement in the creation of inclusive, sustainable and community-oriented public spaces, drawing on the principles of the New European Bauhaus.
The first project partners’ meeting took place in Warsaw (Poland), bringing together representatives from eight European countries, including Panevėžys City Municipality. During the meeting, partners introduced their organisations, discussed project objectives, planned activities, and reviewed key aspects of project management, reporting and cooperation.
A key highlight of the meeting was the exchange of good practices in youth participation. Participants met with representatives of the Warsaw Youth City Council and discussed mechanisms for involving young people in decision-making processes, supporting youth initiatives, and strengthening cooperation between local authorities and youth organisations. These insights are particularly relevant for enhancing youth engagement in Panevėžys.
The programme also included practical activities focused on analysing public spaces, exploring their use, and identifying ways to better involve communities. Participants shared experiences from their cities and reflected on how to create vibrant, inclusive and youth-friendly urban environments.
The knowledge and experience gained during the meeting will contribute to the implementation of project activities in Panevėžys, aiming to foster stronger youth participation and improve the quality of public spaces. The project will run until October 2027.
