Estonian Embassy supports the idea of

The Modern European railway gauge track "Rail Baltica" was discussed.
"The Ambassador of Estonia informed us that they support the proposal to have the railway track "Rail Baltica" via Panevėžys. We are thankful for the expressed support to be given on municipal, national and European level",- said the Mayor V. Satkevičius.
Estonian Ambassador expressed the joy that Panevėžys is the best known city for Estonians as it is passed on the way to Vilnius. Besides, the Ambassador himself was born in the neighbourhood of Panevėžys partner city Rakvere in Estonia.
"We imagine "Rail Baltica" as a fast track which will improve the transportation facilities with Western Europe. We hope that the route from Tallinn will reach Parnu, Riga, Panevėžys, Kaunas and Warsaw. This route is economically efficient only in case it makes the communication faster. Besides, the businessmen will have the possibility to deliver their products to Western Europe in a cheaper way. Their products will be much more competitive in Western markets",- said the Estonian Ambassador.
The Mayor V. Satkevičius presented Panevėžys cultural and economical situation, the investment possibilities to the guest. The Estonian Ambassador T. Kukk expressed the wish to have closer cultural, sports, education and business cooperation contacts. Next time the visit is planned together with the delegation of Business Chamber of Estonia.
