510th Birthday of Panevėžys for younger and elder generations
According to Loreta Krasauskienė, the Head of Culture and Art Department the organisers did their best that younger and elder generations could find pleasant moments. Friday will be more dedicated for younger generation, Saturday is supposed for all the groups of city community and Sunday will be devoted to people who love national art. This year we shall again revive the so called ethnographic yards of Aukštaitija Region which was very popular two years ago among the inhabitants. Traditions, heritage, educational and concert programmes will be presented by Panevėžys city and district, Zarasai, Biržai, Pasvalys, Šiauliai, Rokiškis, Joniškis, Kupiškis, Pakruojis. We can also take part in the Song Festival of Aukštaitija Region. I think that people can also enjoy watching the traditional carnival. A new thing is that we shall have a small stage by the Culture Centre. It will be an alternative for those who do not like pop music - groups of other kind of music will perform here. One more attractive innovative event is the Racing of Babies. So, everyone will find something interesting.
On the occasion of the 510th Birthday of Panevėžys, the conference FROM THE PAST OF PANEVĖŽYS:THE FIRST CENTURIES OF THE CITY will be organised. The fair of crafts will last for three days in Laisvės square, Senvagė, Elektros street and by the Culture Centre. There will be the performances of dance and song groups, the IXth national short film festival I + CITY = FILM, films in the open air, performances of brass orchestras.
A number of sports events are also foreseen: Extra Car Racing, the Tournament of Fotball Veterans, races of cycling, etc.
No doubt, the festival will be coloured by fireworks. So, LET US MEET IN THE FESTIVAL OF 510TH BIRTHDAY OF PANEVĖŽYS!
