This is the result of a common project of Panevėžys City Municiaplity and the Bus Company " Purchase of Ecological Public Transport Busses in the City of Panevėžys (Ist stage). The total value of the project is over 6.8 mln. Litas. Out of them 5 mln. Litas was received from EU funds and the Municip[ality of Panevėžys contributes by 950 thousand Litas.

"We hope that this investment will help the Public Bus Company to ensure its functions and save funds",- says the Director of Administration Kristina Vareikienė.

On June the 2nd, people visiting the International Electric Marathon "Tallinn-Monte  Carlo"  had the chance to see and try the new buses.

The aim of the project " Purchase of Ecological Public Transport Busses in the City of Panevėžys"(Ist stage) is to modernise the system of public transport services, to improve the quality, to reduce air pollution. Last time Panevėžys Public Bus company purchased busses in 1996.  After the implementation of the project the Public Bus Company will renew the first time in 16 years. According to the Agreement of January 3, 2012 signed by  Panevėžys Public Bus Company and "SOLARIS Bus &Coach" Company, the producer of buses promised to make 6 hybrid  dyzel and electric buses. Preliminary they will use 20-25% less of fuel and will save 8 l of fuel for 100 km.
